I have installed a viper single pipe with a bender can on my wifes 98 SRX in order to help shave some weight off. (this sled is my backup so not probably the best sled for her but she only gets out a few times a year). Where would you start with jetting for 5000-7000 feet. When she gets to be a stronger rider and needs the power I will put the tripples back on. Incidentally this mod is good for 13 pounds off as compared to the tripples which also had a light weight can. It would be close to 20 pounds lighter than the stock srx setup if you use a lightweight can on the viper setup.
Back to the jetting question the airbox is gutted and draws directly through a mesh hood. No under hood air gets in.I assume with the single I will need to lean it out some. Any numbers out there??
Thanks for any suggestions

stock viper runs same jetting as an srx does with the carbs vented to airbox. i would try stock jetting. the biggest difference in the carbs is down low, different slides and pilots

Well the stock jetting for the Viper 5000-6700' is 148.8 straight accross and the SRX is looking for 140.0 140.0 142.5. Will I need to fatten up for the single pipe?? Also Betheviper what is the diff with the carb venting and should I change the SRX's to run the single??
Thanks for any help. Srxm5

viper carbs are vented into the air box, just below the shelf, that is why a viper runs 156 jets and a srx run around 148-150, people that vent srxes to the box end up at 155-156.
if you went with the 148 mains i would vent to the box.

Is there any performance improvements with the venting in the box or is it just a different system?
