I am wondering what kind of mods I can do to my suspension from or rear to make the ol viper handle better. One thing I hate is the fact that it won't stand up.

transfer rods and shock valving, or skid swap. This if youve tried adjusting the suspension as is and still not up to your expectations. I personally threw money at the pro action skid with long travel shocks, rods, and drop brackets. Ended up swapping in an edge skid, rebuilt shocks and would never go back to the pro action again. Picked the skid up for $200 and after rebuilding shocks and replacing bushings and bearings i was looking at just over $300

So the rods what do they do? I have access to a machine shop and I found the blueprints in the tech section. I can build then but what will they do for me

They control the point at which the skid is coupled. In the case that you want the front to stand up more youl want the rear shock to work more independently than the front so the suspension can "squat" in the rear allowing more weight to transfer. This video will help you understand a little better.

The big advantage to adjustable transfer rods is to allow for the rider to adjust the coupling of the skid for better weight transfer for a better hole shot then back to less transfer for better handling and bump absorption. In other words - Adjusting to maximize for one will advearsly affect the other. Kind of like clutching - it's a trade off.
