I recently purchased a low mile 2001 SRX and have a hardly used track from my Apex that I would like to install on my SRX. What is invloved? I swapped the track on my Apex with an ice attack, that was just a swap and I familiar with the mechanial side. I was told you need to swap the drivers on the srx. Any other parts that need to be swapped, clearance issues, suspension adjustments, suggestions? Thanks Shane

I'm not familiar with the apex, but if the track is a 2.52 pitch you should be able to just put it in. As for lug height, a 1.25 will be fine as long as your not running studs. I have a 1.25 carve on mine and I have no problems, it's tight with the tunnel protectors but it does clear them.

+1 ^^^

I haven't been on here since last season, my brain is still on car/bike mode. But that track will fit fine. But, as Cooper said, no studs. And I can't remember if you have to trim the Ripsaw to clear the protecters. Someone will chime in here and give a more definite answer.

On a 1.25in ripsaw you can either trim the track to clear the protectors or take the protectors off so you don't have to do any trimming. I trimmed my track since im running studs in my 1.25in ripsaw.

I put the ripsaw on my 1998 SRX and changed the drivers to the 7" from 8" drivers. Np problems with studs and removed protectors.

Put sled on lift or lift rear of sled off of floor. Loosen track. Remove rear suspension bolts and let the rear of the track sit on the floor.

Remove exhaust, drain chain-case, remove cover and bolt holding top gear on. Loosen chain tensioner and pull chain and both gears.

Pull bearing and seal from lower track drive shaft. Push or pull driveshaft to the right as you look to the front of the vehicle. Pull down on the lt. Side of the drive shaft and as you pull shaft back left pull left side down as you pull out the shaft.

Please note I don't remember all of the, different washers or spacers on the chain case side of the sled. Just remember to put them back,as,you removed them.

While everything is apart I,would always change the bearing on the, left side of the, drive shaft. It is not lubed and you will note that it's probably a little sloppy. I'd also think about changing the seal on the track drive in he chain case it sits in chain lube and any damage from the removal process could cause a leak.

The 7" drivers...are they from a different sled? If I need to order, where and what do I say I need? Thanks Shane

What do you mean 7in drivers?? Are you talking about the drive axle?

Shane,

You don't have to change anything in the drive axle or in the suspension to get the ripsaw to work in you're srx. Like I said before notch the track or pull out the protectors. On a stock drive axle you can fit a 1.5in track with the protectors pulled no problem.

Like petro said, no need to change drivers...just put new track on n your good to go! Trim the track or remove the protectors if you have too....

I run 1 1/4 Ripsaw on my 2002 SRX. I removed all the stud protectors for more clearance as I don't run studs.[I don't know if it would rub with them in place.]
I run 9 tooth extroverts that are the same dimensions as the stock 9 tooth drivers with no clearance issues.

I removed all tunnel protectors and heat exchange protectors and I run 1.75 track on my SRX with stock 9 tooth drivers
