steering rods

Just picked up a really nice 97 700sx and would like to replace the steering rod under the motor while I have it out. I loosened the nuts but the bolt seems froze in place. I also tried to use a thin wrench to see if they threaded in but I don't think so. Any suggestions before I put a nut part way on and start hammering!?

The rod ends are actually on with a tight fitting taper. Just give it a few good taps and it should pop out.

Thanks man! I gave it a few good whacks before but nothing!? Heated it a good bit with map gas and it popped out after two hits. It was pretty tight!
