Ok started to get sleds ready for winter. Dropped a bolt and got the trusty magnet out. Found this as well. It was on the left side below the chain case. The sled is a 97 sx700. The shaft is 1 1/2 inches long. Sorry for the blurry pics I think my camera just took a dump.

Bought the sled last year at the end of the season. As far as I know no reverse. It has about 2900 miles on it. It looks like it should have 2 e clips on it and maybe a cotter pin or hair pin in the end. Been looking at part diagrams and no luck so far. Will look some more later eyes are going buggy now.

Parking brake cable pin? Stock ones are silver may be they found that to put in and it fell out to.

This is a tough game! What prize goes to first place? Lol. Sure your buddies aren't messing with Ya? We would put random things under buddies sled in garage or under hood or on running boards while he is wrenching on it! Lol. Sure that's even a sled part? Let alone a 2 simple 2 stroke at that even? Been through many two strokes and never seen anything like it in any brands. 4 stroke motor Ya maybe but a 2 stroke! Lol. Now I am real anxious to know.

I am not sure what the prize would be other then you know your stuff. That would be fun to add extra parts to some body just to mess with them.LOL. But I am the only one doing it. So I would be messing with myself. I have looked and looked I am clueless where this could go. I have 2 of these sx700 so I look at one then look at the other. back and forth back and forth. I looked at the exploded views of the parts diagrams. I have 3 options I think.

1 Like stated above it does not belong to this sled.

2 in the alternate reverse gear item 33 which would mean this sled use to have reverse. But no signs of it.

3 under track drive 2 possibly item 17. I don't think that's it.

Guess you will find out when something comes apart lol. Doesn't look like anything structural.... I wouldn't worry to much.

yep that's pretty much where I am at with it. But in the mean time any one figures it out while your wrenching on your sled by all means clue me it.

Put dollar bill next to them and post a pic so we can relate the size

It is 1 1/2 inches long and 1/4 inch in diameter. I only found 1

I am 99% sure that this pin is the one that goes through the reverse linkage. I was installing reverse on my SRX tonight and I think this the same pin. If you don't have reverse then maybe it was robbed off of the sled and replaced with a standard set up.
