I got a 98 vmax twin and when i was out riding the other day i stopped for a second and then i hit the throttle and it wouldnt go it like would go up in rpm but not go anywere. it would go up to about 3 thousand rpms and then it would just go down even if you pushed the throttle more. it did this same problem in the early fall after i put the bender racing silencer on it. whats the problem is the clutch just not ingaging??

97 vmax xtc 600 twin does the same thing.... rare that it happens but it does. maybe 3 times a season. last year 2 times in 1 day then again 1 week later.
however mine does not rev down, it just revs up but does not go...
could anyone else explain the problem??

TORS switch is designed to limit enging rpm's to below engagemant. 3 main things can be wrong. 1 the throttle cable/idle adjustment is not set correctly. 2 the TORS switch is bad. 3 there is something wrong (ie iced up throtle cable) and the TORS switch is actually doing it's job
