I have a chance to pick up a pretty nice 80 440ex that only has 1200 miles or so on it. They heard a rod knock and pulled the engine and have the top end disassembled. They found that one piston had a little play in it and one rod to be a little tight and one to be a little loose. I've never dealt with anything with the lower end. Could it just be the rod bearings? How much does a bottom end rebuild usually cost? Just ball park. The good news is they stopped running it and the Pistons and cylinders all look to be in good shape. The sled is definitely worth saving and is a great deal as is. If I sell one of my sleds today I'm for sure gonna pick this one up. If nothing else it's pretty to look at. I already have a white exciter now naturally I need a black one.
