I have an enticer that I have been trying to squeeze a little extra juice out of and am looking for some more information on motor work. Not sure of the validity, but I read somewhere that the transfer ports on the 300cc are more conducive to airflow than those of the 340. I currently have both engines, though the 340 is what I have been running based solely on displacement. Is there a combination of parts between the 2 that I can use for best performance? Machine work can be done and I already opened up and polished the intake/exhaust ports on the 340 jugs. I plan on buying a top end rebuild (in whichever bore) to bring compression back up and I just bought a rack of flat slide 38mm mikunis for better fueling. Also, are there any recommendations on clutch modifications? Looking for more rpms before engagement so its not bogging pre-powerband.
Thanks for the insight,
Fred

Not sure, but my understanding is that the crankcases are the same only increases in bore diameter and resultant larger carb sizing between the 300 and 340cc motors...

Please do! I want to know everything about what people have done to these things to make them rock. There are some pretty cool grass drag builds out there thats for sure.

Engines are the same. Cylinder bore with matching heads/pistons are the only difference. Carbs are the same. Jetting is a little different. Ignitions are the same year to year. Chassis length/track/skid are the biggest difference between 300/340. Exhaust is even the same.

Not a performance engine but built in Yamaha fashion so they out perform most it their class and many that are bigger. ET's are limited by the drive system they have. Primary can be upgraded/tuned better but secondary is very limited.

Not much is available in go fast stuff. Popular in vintage ovals/drags because in stock form they will put a beating on most in class.

In stock form a great sled that is a real hoot to ride. At the races they do well until a 340 Exciter shows up. Then they are done if the EX is right.
