Had a quick question. I just recieved my new bender catalog and it says nothing avout Tim Bender? It shows a Terry Paine guy??? Where is Tim? Does he not own bender anymore?

Here is a little snip from Benders Site.

Bender Racing History
Bender Racing was founded in 1982 by Tim Bender, a Yamaha snowmobile racer who turned his genius for fine-tuning Yamaha snowmobiles for racing into an aftermarket company supplying custom parts and accessories to Yamaha snowmobile enthusiasts. The business gradually grew, as did the snowmobile industry in general, and by the mid-1990’s Bender Racing had become the best known producer of performance parts for Yamaha snowmobiles. Bender Racing began selling mostly to retail customers through catalog mail orders, then slowly built a network of dealers that today exceeds 200. To increase the catalog products offered, Tim also became a distributor for other quality products he used in his race efforts, such as USI skis and Woody’s traction products.

Tim Bender, with the help of his late brother Bob as crew chief, had raced in the Sportsman Series of NASCAR during the snowmobiling off-season. His incredible success there (most wins ever in the Sportsman Series) led to an opportunity to race in NASCAR’s Busch Series, with a full sponsorship from Kraft Foods. Tim then sought a partner to buy into his snowmobile company and assist in running it, so he could devote his time to his NASCAR aspirations.

Terry Paine had been manufacturing products for Bender Racing at his machine shop, having met Tim while working for C&H Dyno. Later, Terry was employed with Aerocharger Turbo Systems, while still manufacturing exhausts for Bender.

Terry Paine agreed to partner with Tim as owner of Bender Racing and agreed to run the company in Tim’s absence. With first year sales then growing by nearly 30%, Tim left all day-to-day operations and business decisions to Terry, pursuing other racing interests after being injured in a Busch Series race in Las Vegas.

As Terry’s company had manufactured products for Bender Racing, the first major change that was incorporated included returning to in-house production, reversing a trend in the industry to outsource parts production. The result was a higher quality product line, shorter backorder lead times, and more precise inventory control, with less stock left over at the end of the season. Tim continued to assist during the annual Alaska R&D session and during dyno sessions on our own Superflow dyno.

Today Bender Racing has grown to fill a new, 14,000 sq ft facility, with 12 full-time employees and 3 seasonal employees. Our desire is to provide Yamaha Aftermarket products that are of the same high quality as Yamaha’s OEM products. We want our products to continue to fulfill the expectations of Yamaha’s customers that enjoy the luxury of Yamaha’s commitment to providing a total quality package in each model snowmobile. To this end, we also provide the best technical support in the business, with a full time support staff of five employees available Mon.-Sat during the winter months for helpful product support.
