Hey, a question about jets. On my 700 triple 2 of the jets are the same but 1 looks quite different from the others. They are all stamped the same so I'm thinkin it's ok to run. I'm putting a new engine in this weekend and now would be the time to switch em out if needed...

from my experience no. aftermarket companys sometimes use their own sizing (found this the hard way with a dynojet jets). What are the differences?

My 99 VMax 600 triple has 2 different size main jets from the factory. The mag side and center carbs have a 133.6 main while the PTO carb has a 136.3 main jet. I also noticed that the mag side cylinder has some kind of an air delfector? inside the reed valve but only on the mag side. I don't know why..it came from the factory that way and the engineers at yamaha designed it that way for some reason so I just roll with it.

I have wondered why they do this in the first place. can anyone school me as to why?

I don't remember exactly what the difference was. I think 1 had a bigger "shroud" than the others, I put it in because I was in a pinch and thought it would be ok because it was the same number as the others. I guess it doesn't really matter now because I just picked up 3 142.5's (going with Turks recommendation) to put back in. Does anyone have opinions or thoughts about the 142.5's ?? Thanks Al
