ok guys so here is my issue, I pulled the plugs today on my 2000 sxr700 to do my fall tune up and I noticed that the plugs are very black and oily. not sure what is causing this I did a compression test , have 120 PSI on all three cylinders. gap on plugs is set to 030 0f a inch. can anybody steer me in the right direction as to where to start with this? did I mention that there is 16000 kms on the sled bought it last year with 15000. not sure if the top end has ever bin rebuilt.

Probably just because you have been running it in warm temps, making it rich and probably hasn't been brought up to running temp and a while. Check them again once you can take it out for a run in sub 0 temps.

Good call, never even though about that! Gonna put new premium gas in as well and drain the old stuff as it has been in there since last winter. I put stabil in it but it was premium and there was only half a tank
