I burned out my 99 vmax 600 twin running too lean. Other than that issue the sled was running well. Both cylinders are deeply scored as are the pistons - no sign of rings.
I took it apart last spring, shut the cover and left it apart until now in a field in a covered sled trailer.
I can get a used 97 vmax twin engine for less than new pistons/cylinders/rings.
1) I left it with spilled coolant in the crankcase - is that a concern?
2) should I buy the rebuild (assuming it is good)
2) will a 97 600 twin fit (plug and play) in a 99 600 sled (with no mods)?
3) is it better (less trouble) to install the new engine or just take the rebuild's pistons/cylinders/rings
4) I have the manual ... is there anything to watch out for (belt alignment if I swap engines, scrap metal in crank, etc)
