I was told crank cases are line bored. What is line boring. And what will or could happen if u use 2 different cases to make one case. Just curios. Thanks

yah they are a matched set.... you see the engraving code on the pto end of the case, see how the top is the same as the bottom engraving. Thats means they are a pair, and when they were new they were put together and line bored to have a exact clearance for the bearing crush or clamp. By using a differnt case half youd need to check it with an inside mic and also a dial indicator and see if its a perfect circle or how much run out it has, some are close others are off alot.
So, no, you cant just swap a differnt half without some good measuring to see if it will work. If you do this and its too tight it will be hard on the bearings and likely fail.....
If its too loose, it will either spin or chatter the bearings in the case and likely have a air leak and burndown between the case halves. Either way, the result will not be good if you dont carefully check this.
