fire under hood

Hey Guys... I had a small fire under the hood of my 98 srx so i need to replace all my power valve cables ,servo cover and the air box is warped.... so i could convert to 99 and newer air box.. and cables. i believe all the parts bolt in. Is there anything else i need to look for

I'm going to guess and say...parking brake was left on...don't ask how I know this

99 has the longer pv cables that locates the servo up on the side of the frame above the CDI which means you'll have to weld a bracket on yours to bolt the servo to because it's not there.Either that or get that frame part off a parted out sled and bolt it in place of the one in your 98.

nope no parking brake on mine.....i had a fuel leak... i got pretty lucky ...but thats why i have a fire extinguisher in my garage
i was told i couldnt get new cables for a 98

As well as extending your harness (or get the 99 harness) as the PV plug in on the 98 wont reach the 99's servo location, this update make cleaning carbs MUCH easier!

The Port Yamaha web site microfiche has the cables,they have a new part number but I would say they are still available.You might also check the guys on the site here for used ones,there's a few here that part out sleds and you may find good used ones.
