87 exciter suspention seized shaft question

hey guys, i have the rear suspension pulled out of my 87 exciter and looks like my front mounting shaft is toast. the aluminum has eroded inside the steel frame and does not turn. i'd like to replace but need this one out. im sure it will be a challenge even with spray and heat and beat but my question is is this a 1 piece shaft or 2??? should it drive straight out?
 
It will have to be milled out. Unless you melt them out with an acetylene torch and risk making the arm brittle, you will have to mill them out. Take them to a local machine shop. I would imagine the rest of the shafts are seized as welll, 2 in the front arm, 3 in the rear arm.
 
No, it's 2 pieces. He's saying that the aluminum shaft that is stuck inside will literally have to be drilled out, or bored out on a milling machine to be correct. I'd check them all out before you commit. Might be easier/cheaper to swap another skid in.

10-4!!!!!!!!! i was hoping it was 1 piece and could be driven out from 1 side and replaced. i wasn't wanting to break the whole thing down but looks like i will be now. that being the case i can drill it out myself just wasn't sure about the 1 or 2 piece . i am yet to find a replacement shaft. anyone have a good source???????
 
Yep, it is a one piece shaft. I buy 7/8" round aluminum stock from fastenal and make my own. They are still available from Yamaha for about $25. Part number 8A5-47465-02-00
