98 VMaxx 700 triple Xtc. I need to remove or just raise the engine to access the steering linkage for repairs. I'm not needing a nut bolt instructions just the basics. Remove the carbs? clutches? is there a removable section of the chassis so clutch removal isnt necessary? I dont have the sled in my garage yet, still in summer storage until Fri., then I will be working on it over the holiday weekend.
any tips or suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Clutch has to come off for engine to come all the way out. Willing to bet if you removed air box, exhaust manifold/pipe and front motor mounts engine would lean back far enough to access the steering parts easy enough. I would just pull manifold/pipe and see if you can get it before pulling air box though.

There is an oil line under the engine. Careful with that one. Drain the antifreeze. Airbox first.diconnect cdi. Unplug sparkplugs. Diconnect ignition coils. Remove Throttle cable, oil cable and choke cable. Remove airbox. Don't forget the two bolts that bolt the airbox down. Remove fuel lines from carbs. They could be very stiff and brittle. I say cut them and get new ones. there is another oil line going from the fuel pump to the bottom of the engine. Remove it from the fuel pump side. Remove impulse line from fuel pump. Disconnect tor. Remove carbs. Remove exhauste system. Two17mm bolts in front of engine. Two 14mm bolts in the back. You will need to remove the clutch first. Buy a good clutch puller cause you will bend and twist the cheap ones and then you end up buying the good one. You will have to remove the reinforcement frame too. Remove rad hose on the bottom of engine. Tilt engine over remove oil line from bottom on engine. Discount any other wiring. Pull engine out.

your welcome. i pulled out my engine last night. takes me about one to two hours. take your time it's not a race. use a zip lock bag for your nuts, bolts, springs, and label them.
