This is for those who have both or ridden both older 2 stroke viper and newer 4 stroke Apex. I have a 02 viper and recently puchased a 07 apex how do these two sleds compare. I have not driven the apex yet...what should my expectations be. Im thinking they should be pretty close in performace. Whats your thoughts on: top speed, off the line, handling, fuel milage Ect....

I have a 2003 viper and a 2006 apex gt. There is no comparison. The apex is faster smoother better on fuel and better handling after you get used to the more upright seating position. The apex gt needs a few mods to get right. Stock it will dart like crazy and if your more than 200 lbs bottom out. Get the shock revalved, big boy spring, lower the front until the a arms are parallel to the ground, pull the limiter strap up one hole and shim the skis. Oh andadd the 13mm sway bar. I still ride my viper on occasion but truly once you dial in the apex you will be on it all the time.

if you put a different skid in a viper, put a nice seat on it then i would say the viper would be a "funner sled" but, hands down the apex is just naturally a better handling sled and the tone of the engine is another major plus. Both with revisions will be good sleds for sure

Stock to stock both sleds shine in their respected categories. The apex has a better suited cock pit however the stock suspension calibrations are less than desired. The viper handles like a slot car on flat trails but the bumps leave you back feeling it. The cheaper route would be a viper with a taller seat and suspension swap. To each his own

As stated above, set up is key for ANY sled. I put snowtrackers on my 06 Apex RTX which made a world of difference, set up the suspension to my liking and now it's gas and go.

This is kinda my thoughts. Can't wait to find out tho!! May or may not end up with two apexes cause I like the 4 stroke factor, but I dont wanna make any desicions till I ride the Apex. The Viper may just stay in the stable for the fun factor!!
