Hi guys,
As most of you know i am always changing things around on my sled and my last trouble i am having is finding that perfect seat. WELL, i found one that wont hurt the pocket too much. So the story is my friend ordered a seat for his 2003 prox 800 from WRP. This seat is hands down awesome, light, tons of storage and it literally is the perfect riding position. So i emailed WRP and asked why they dont make a seat like that for older yamaha sleds like the srx, sxr, vmax, and sx viper. The guy stated that their is not alot of yamaha sleds around him (Utah) and he has never had the opportunity to fit a custom seat on one. The wrp seats he makes for the polaris are around 350 dollars with free shipping. He stated that if i send him out my tank and seat, because i have some spares that he would let me know if it would be worth putting a new seat into production for older yamahas. The questions he asked me i could not answer. So hopefully you guys can help me out.
I need to know what seats will fit what?? viper, srx, vmax, sxr.. All the sled with trailing arms, 97-2004 is the market.
I stated to him that price is critical, most of the guys on this forum including myself dont see the point in spending 500 dollars on boss seats. While they are nice. It is a 1/4 of what our sleds are worth and its just 5 bills that you could spend on something else other then a seat.
But here are some pictures of the seat.

Im pretty sure all the proaction chassis sleds shared the same seat and tank. Only thing that changed was colors and the size of the Yamaha lettering. 350$ OTD sounds like a decent spot

Viper seats can be used on srx, sx,sxr, vmax. I think the viper seat is just a little taller than the srx seat but you can use the viper seat on an srx. I see some people that use the viper seat on the srx also use the viper tank. All 97-03 sleds besides the viper had the same tank. vipers and venoms had the same tank and seat from 02-06, and the 04 venture had the viper tank.

I just had a viper seat added my 2001 srx and the reason for changing the tank to a viper style is so you won't see the screws on top of the srx tank...

Here is the difference between a viper and srx/sxr/vmax tanks. The viper is on the bottom and the srx/sxr/vmax on the top. The srx/sxr/vmax seat has a bogie on the front of the seat that goes on the tank. The viper doesn't have this. This is why the viper seat goes straight across and doesn't have the rectangle indent in the tank. I think they are basically the same tank since boss seats fit all 97-02 srx 97-06 viper/ mtn. max.

When you say tons of storage. .. it looks like there isa flap in the back and the cavity Between the seat and the tunnel is the storage??? If so I would rather spend the extra $150 and get the boss which has individual pockets/storage. And not have to waste my valuable time trying to make something work that isn't going to be what i ultimately want

The whole underneath of the seat is storage. Their is plenty of storage, like you can fit probably an 18 pack of beer in the thing. IF you want individual pockets, well then this obviously wouldn't be a seat for you then. This is suppose to be more of a cost effective seat, simple and something that works but yet durable.

So looks to me the verdict is that any seat will switch over, so technically he could wip something up to for one to fit all. Which should make the price even cheaper. I will report back to him with my findings and keep you guys updated

Only one problem I see with the seat from that Polaris you have pictures of. If the storage is under the whole seat open like that, how do you keep objects stored in there dry??

it seals it self off with the tunnel
So any word on this seat project? I'm in, others have claimed his seats are a redeaming quality for old sleads. I will be making my own if this doesn't materialize. Already have the vynil. Can't figure out what to use fo the base construction. Let me know.
