As the post states what does everyone think of as the most fun vintage sled on the snow? I'v always been partial to older yamahas and have owned many, loved the phazers and enticers as for phazers I'v owned are 87, 88, 89, 91,93, 96 mountain and recently picked a 92 venture gt and I must say wow why does everyone overlook the venture its basically a phazer with reverse and a lot warmer to ride great sled and at this point I'm picking it as my favorite fun old yammy.

Can't really argue against the Phazer/Venture. Smiles per mile were off the charts with them and you didn't have to spend much time/money on them to get it.

Great sleds.

I have to agree with Tony, the Exciter was a cool sled.Loved my 440 and it took a beating and kept on ticking.Just put gas and oil in her and kept it to the bar most times.

In my opinion,be tough to beat the old 440 exciters, they were pretty fast even stock and light. Even when I was young if you got stuck, you could pick it up and move it and be on your way again, spent alot of smiles with miles on a 1979 exciter 440. I dont ever remember it breaking down on me, only needed hyfax and idler wheel bearings, gas and oil.....

Those were the good ol days for sure!

Grew up on Exciters. Bought a new one in 80. Toughest SOB on snow. Put a major spank on many sleds it shouldn't have been close to. Also owned and rode many ET's. Loads of fun!!. Bought a new SRV in 84. What a difference in ride compared to my earlier leafers. Faster too. Then got a new Phazer Deluxe in 86 for my sweetheart. I liked it better than them all. Almost as light as the Exciter but with more power and better ride. Still nimble and quick and would keep up with the SRV on the lake.

If I had to chose for the most fun category I'd give the nod to the Phazer. It was the best overall in my op. Second would be the Exciter. It could do it all to with more effort and could take a beating like no other sled I've ever seen. Third would be a toss up between the SRV and the ET's (300 was my favorite ET). SRV for it's speed/comfort and ride, ET's for the light nimble little animals they were. Hard choice here.

The one I want back is the 80 Exciter Arguably the best trail sled ever built. Maybe not the most fun but man,,, when I think back at the hell I put that sled through and the fact that I couldn't break it I smile.

Anyhow, no matter how you slice it almost any Yamaha fanner from 76 on up will be a winner.

All great machines.

i had a 77 440 exciter, what a great sled. and go like hell. they were cool with the 77 srx stripes. great sled. bullet proof motors. 3:16 (yammie tony)

I love all the sleds mentioned and owned almost every one of them! But that being said the sled I remember as being the most fun was the old Husk ski my dad had when I was a kid. We had numerous times when 6 or 8 kids where hanging off the back of that old sleigh. A whole 9 hp of fun. LOL

Don't know if it was the most fun sled, but I gotta say that my '78 Exciter was one of my all time favorites. Bulletproof and fast.

x 2..I had a 78 Exciter as well and it was fast stock and put that sled through everything and it never failed or broke anything on it..one tough sled from Yamaha

The most fun sled I ever owned was a diablo rouge two piece. It was sitting on our farm for years, a friend of my dad's left it there and it was the first one I ever rode. That thing was a blast and could cut o-balls like nothing!

I don't have as much experience with older sleds as a lot of you guys, but my friend used to have a couple of SRV 540's and we used to have a ball with them.

Im 47yrs old and still love shredd'n up the yard on our little SnoScoot!! 10-12" of snow, and just hold the flipper to the bar and carve it up like your in the mountains :)
