Check with SUDCO. Im not sure what kind of availability there is on the 6FL68, but they might have it. Nozzles should be easy enough to find. Check the three digit series number on the jet.

Good luck on finding jetting specs on the flat slides for exciters. The sx jetting may be close on a stock exciter but not close enough. The Vmax jetting is rich and doesnt work very well on a stock exciter. I ran bored 38 TM cable style carbs, messed with them for an entire season and couldnt get it where it needed to be. I can give you multiple wrong jetting combos but the "spot on" combo hasnt been found yet for me. It must be a big secret because I have gotten all sorts of suggestions, but no solid specs. I know several aftermarket companies made flat slides for the Exciter, but I cant find jetting specs for any of them.

Someone suggested to throw flatslides on your sled so I commented. Now, for the jetting on your round slides... you could probably find some one parting an entire sled and get the whole carb set up for $25 or $50. Or you could try a 6DH4 with a Q-6 nozzle. Whats wrong with the needles you have??

i ran 6fl82 needles with my pipes, stock ex2 carbs will have those,166-q-6 nozzles,340 mains, you can still get.now i have sx flatsides with the correct intakes, work awesome, just dropped the needle to 3rd pos.i would also go with a e-start flywheel to be safe

thanks for the advise. i may already have that but will have to look. is there a way to see looking under the cowl? i'm assuming so. just so others know reason i need new needles is the slot has lots of wear from vibs i guess and the slot is worn a ton. i think the previous owner had these in the wrong groove so i may still be ok. psi sheet calls for 4th position in the needle and 330 main jets. this cat had them on the 2nd so i may try them where psi recommends. im also understanding the comet clutch that i have on this won't hold up?????? just from reading. wonder what other ugly heads are gonna pop up in this nightmare/dream????? theres a fine line between dreams and nightmares . hope there is some light at the end of the tunnel thats not from a coyote/ roadrunner running thru a tunnel scene guys!!!!!!

Ok, now were getting some good info here. Im assuming you have Psi twin pipes?? That changes things a bit. Go to the recommended groove and you should be fine. As for your comet, they work fine if they are maintained. If they have been neglected you will have issues sooner rather than later. If yours is in good shape I would run it, if not rebuild it.

Mikuni doesn't make them still? Are those carbs on other branded sleds?

Yes, you can buy a new standard 38mm carb, however the 6fl68 needle is specific to the yamaha exciter 570. Psi developed a similar needle right before yami came out with the 6fl68. I wouldnt say these needles are rare, because they made a million exciters, but finding one without buying a whole sled or carb set up can be a challenge.Mikuni doesn't make them still? yes twin psi pipes. only had this running for a minute. literally and had to shut down because all the excessive gas coming out of the pipes and not needing a fire in my garage. so i been all thru the carbs and replaced needle and seats with new viton tipped, set floats to 18.1 mm but still had some serious flooding. i think the crank cases were full and then some so couldn't get refired. so figured as long as i was at it may as well rebuild the fuel pump just as a precaution. when i had the pulse line off i cranked in over tons till no more fuel came out and same with the pipes and plugs so for the past week i've had the throttle taped open and exhaust still off and i crank a few times a day hoping to get it all dried out of the cases.i know seems like a lot of non-sense but its the nature of the beast with a 27 year old sled that was sold with problems. i didn't pat too much only 275.00 so just trying to patch it up and get a few seasons out of it. in the mean time i've replaced every wheel bearing, made new front shaft, drilled old one out, new slides, nice used track on its way,new bearings and seal for drive, plus replaced rotted wood under the seat. still have slop in the front tss joints to remove but i will wait till i get a few of these other fires put out!!!!!!!!!!
