Need suspension measurements from a 1983 or later SRV.

I am installing the suspension from a 1983 SRV into my 81 SS440. I have been running an 82 SRV suspension with a 121" track in the SS for many years.

The 83 SRV has a longer front swing arm than the 82 and I need to know the location of the mounting holes relative to the center line of the drive shaft.

I also need to know the location of the idler wheel shaft.

If anyone can take a few measurements from an old SRV frame it would be a great help.

I've got an 85, where would I measure? (I've never done that before)

he would need center of drive shaft to front pivot. front pivot to center crossover track support shaft. front pivot to rear scissor. also needed is top of tunnel down to each of these mount points.

measures are tough with the skid in, but can be done. best to use a measure of butting the flat lobe of the driveshaft as opposed to center of driveshaft. also specify inside of tunnel or outside of tunnel as it makes about 1/4" difference.

Thanks, I appreciate the help.

All I need is the distance from the hex drive shaft to the front swing arm . The hex drive shaft is 1" so if you could measure the horizontal distance from either the flat surface or center of the hex drive shaft to the center of the upper front swing arm shaft or to the mounting bolt holes in the tunnel it would do. For the vertical I just need the distance from the underside of the tunnel to the center of the same upper front swing arm mounting holes. This will give me the horizontal and vertical location for the holes so I can drill the new ones.

The idler wheel shaft should be bolted about midway between the front and rear mounting holes for the suspension and an inch or two higher up on the side of the tunnel. I just need the horizontal center to center distance between the front swing arm and the idler wheel shaft and the vertical distance from underside of the tunnel to the center of the idler wheel shaft. That will get my idler wheel shaft properly located so it does not interfere with the swing arms or shocks.

I also need the center to center distance between the front and rear mounting bolts and the vertical distance from the underside of the tunnel to the center of the real mounting holes.which someone else provided a while ago.

The main ones I need to get started are the measurements for the front swing arm mounting bolts.

I already have installed a two-up seat from and XLV on the old SS and installing the 83 SRV suspension should greatly improve the ride.

Thanks,

I agree if the skid and track is in it is much easier to measure from the flat surface of the hex shaft to the front pivot shaft. I can use either inside or outside tunnel measurements for the vertical.

I slid the skid in place for a rough fit and figure the front pivot holes will be about 1.5" forward from where mine are now.
