On my 93 Phazer, I need to remove the sprocket to install a new crank case seal and grease seal on the PTO side.
I found a post where the tool required is a bearing splitter.
Where does it install?
Or do I need a puller?
I don't see a split in the shaft behind the sprocket.

A bearing splitter would go behind the gear, it just supports it, then press the crank down through the gear.

Ok thanks, I think I see now.
I am going to look for the splitter tomorrow.
So I need the puller parts to the splitter too.
Thanks again for the help.

I just used a 2 jaw puller and pulled mine off last night.

Thanks for the replies folks.
I couldn't find a bearing splitter locally so used the 2 Jaw puller suggestion, worked great.
Now I have to put it all back together.
Any tips for installing the sprocket back onto the crankshaft?
I read a post somewhere that mentioned heating the sprocket in the oven for 30 minutes but can't locate the post.

Heat it up with a propane or map gas torch and slide it on...very quickly.

Thanks for the reply.
As a follow up for anyone searching for info, I now have the sprocket successfully installed back on the shaft.
I did not use the torch as I was out of propane but played with oven temperatures instead.
I put it in the oven top shelf at 425F for 45 minutes, had the engine in my basement and when the timer went I gabbed the sprocket with a glove and dropped it on to the crankshaft, and it did just that dropped right on fully!
Thanks again all
