So I'm new to the world of Yamaha's and I know next to nothing about my sled. I just got a 1999 Vmax SX 700 and it's got a Sno-Stuff rumble pack can and an 8 inch riser on it right now. I'm wondering what the best brand of pipes are for someone like myself who wants to put a triple pipe kit on the sled,I know that I'm going to have to adjust the jetting and clutching but that's not a concern for me as I know what I'm doing mechanically. So I'm just wondering how the SX 700's run after you put triple pipes on them with a clutch kit and etc. also how do these sleds handle with some C&A pro skis?:letitsnow:winterrul

I am not very fond of the stock skies on these sleds. I had bad darting issues when I first started with mine. I switched to some USI triple threats and they have been great. I assume the same result will come from the C&A's.

I don't run triple pipes, but have always heard SLP to be the best....if you have the money. You can probably find bender triples used pretty easily though. I have heard claims of as much as 150hp the kind of setup you are talkin.

I've been researching alot the past few days and it seems like everyone is running either Bender,SLP,or Aaen triple pipes and from the looks of it the SLP pipes have the most hp gain but they definitely cost the most. I was thinking about a nice set of C&A pro xtx's since I like to go off trail a lot. I'm not gonna go too crazy with this sled because I still want to be able to go out and just ride,so I think a set of triple pipes,a clutch kit,and some C&A pro's are as far as I'll take it for right now

You could buy a set of used Bender's, swap them with the fella in Upsate New York, and make friends with the land owners on Leelanau that let folks ride across their back 40.

Take advantage of the other cheap mods found here too if you're willing to read... alot.

skid?

Reading certainly don't bother me,I've been hunting around the forum all day researching stuff for my sled. I think I'm gonna get some seat time on it with the current set up before I start throwing mods at it

Thats a great idea (I'd still loose the can ;). Welcome to the site.

Read up on your skid (search BTV) since you may find all kinds of things that need fixing which will make a huge difference along with C&As.

I'll lose the can when I swap out to triple pipes (I love the sound of the rumble pack),I'm debating ordering some C&A's for it tomorrow since the exhaust side ski is busted so I might as well spend the money now,and I plan on going through the entire sled once I get some time to get it in the garage after I finish the trans swap on my truck( see my post in the trucks thread if you want to see that toy)

Had benders on our red head. It was ported too but made good power and ran well. I liked the sound of them. My brother in law had a set of cpr's and then swapped those for a set of slp's. I preferred the benders over both of those but to each his own. I've never used c and a skis but had good luck with the usi 301 series on those sleds. Also used Simmons with good results. I have a set of Simmons gen 1 that I'm listing for sale probably today.

I've had both a redhead with CPRs & Benders. I thought both put out awesome power. The Benders sound better - still louder but not at sharp as the CPRs, the CPRs had a meaner sound, a lot of crackling, even after I had them repacked. Younger guys loved 'em, but when I rode with older guys I got a negative comment here and there.

So if I got a set of Bender pipes for it I'd be making a good buy? I keep hearing Bender,SLP, and Power Inc end dumps are the pipes to get but I'm just not sure because I'm so new to the world of Yamaha's.

You still have those CPRs for sale?
