What is your SXR Starting Procedure?

On cold start, full choke to get her going, then how long do you let it idle on full choke/half choke?
I started my sxr700's this weekend to drive them to the shed after bringing them back from a carb cleaning/pre-season inspection.

Started full choke after about 4 pull. Then after a few seconds I flipped to half choke but it seemed I had to keep half choke on for a little while, otherwise they sounded like possibly stalling with choke off. After about 2-3 minutes they idled fine with choke off.

How long do you let them idle at full or half choke before turning choke off?

I let mine idle @ 1/2 choke for about a minute. It'll be spittin & spudderin the whole time. Just wanting to get plenty of fuel in the combustion chamber to keep it lubed up until that minute is over and she's on her way to a full warm-up. Plus it might wash some carbon build up out of the combustion chamber. It's not proven that this procedure does this, it's just me thinking it probably does.
 
Full choke then 3 to 4 pulls... once running, half choke for a min and then I flip it on and off half choke listening to the sled run.. making sure its running on all cylinders clean, then choke off and let idle until warmed up.
 
When it's cold, -25 and below, full enricher, pull the rope slow 3 times to loosen it up and prime the engine. Then pull 2 or 3 times till she starts. I let it run at its own pace then when the Rpms start to fall I flip the enricher off and apply a little throttle till it will idle on it own then let it warm up. Usually turn the carb warmers on while warming it up, then turn them off at the first opportunity on the trail.

x2^^^ Exactly how I do it. If she's been sitting for atleast a day I Always give her 3 or 4 slow pulls to get everything moving and then pull normally. I've got a Viper but same deal.

I went out and started both my SXR's today. Both started within 5-6 pulls (3 times slow as you mentioned). However, I needed to give them both a little throttle (when in half choke and then with no choke) to maintain about 1800rpm. After about a minute or two, they idled OK. One of them was idling at 1400-1500 to I tuned the idle screw a little to get it up to 1800. Its about 28 degrees out today.
Are these sleds normally this cold blooded? Do you guys need to give them a little throttle to keep them running for the first minute?
They came back from pre-season service (carb cleaning as well) about 2 weeks ago.
 
yup, that's normal. its a 2 stroke! when they idle slow (especially with choke) they will load up. btww what year are they? i noticed that my 2000 sxr needs a little throttle when warming up, but my 2001 doesn't. i think its related to hotter ignition system to the 2001.
