ok so i got a p-85 for my 89 exciter, what should i be using to bolt it on? the original bolt has a aluminum shaft over it,its to small to fit over the exciter bolt, thanks

you will need to get a different bolt as the treads are not the same ............you will also need to re shime for a narrow belt or go to the 88R wide belt secondary and rum a 87x or dayco 1118 belt .........for a bolt the 102c comet bolt for a Yamaha or arctic cat is what you want to use

Does anyone have a clutch setup for this? i put the psi single back on and with M weights and a blue with white stripe spring its instantly over revving and belt isnt rising in the primary-to light weights and or to stiff spring? seeing about 8300 rpm-yikes!

A little different sled, but with an exciter sx and a bender pipe I ran a p-85 with 10-al weights. Comet purple spring. 45 deg helix. Sled is really fast with this setup.

Yep, I had an SX with a Comet that had the tall purple spring and A52 or A54 weights. I have the weights yet, I can check and see exactly what g's they were. I like that set up with the Arctic secondary. I never tried it with a yami secondary though. Are you running the 88r secondary on it??

cool,thanks- i havent picked up a ex2 secondary yet, just machined out the helix so far, i grabbed another p-85 from a guy at work, the fixed sheave on mine is a shallow bore and his is alot deeper, more like the stock clutch, now im wondering which one to use

You wont be sorry if you decide to use an 88R secondary. They are bigger in diameter and pull really hard out of the hole. I messed around with the earlier secondaries last year and never really got where I wanted to with them. The 88R is a whole different animal and is worth throwing on your sled.

I think i may have a 88r secondary Id sell. They where on the exciter 2 right?

stock bars with 1 inch riser, heated em up and took some of the bend out of them, pods with a heat shield

I was lucky enough to get an exciter II yxr short cover clutch and secondary(wide belt) off of my brothers crashed 92. Decker pipe from Reichards with the proper jet setting it didn't disappoint. Quick, fast and good on gas. I sold it in 97 to a friend after 10 years of service. I don't remember using alot of belts. I used a stiffer primary spring with the pipe, otherwise all stock. Ypz (stock setup) was hard on belts in comparison.
