OK Guys, with the wealth of experience on this forum some of you have conquered this problem: upgrading a 2000 SRX single knob warmer control, to the 2001 and up separate grip and thumb controls. I've heard talk about screwing up electricals (rectifiers, magnetos, etc) if not done properly. Please share your success stories, and what to watch out for. Thanks

You could just use a harnes from an 01.

2000 SRX is a 1 year wonder, different CDI so the harness from a 2001-2002 won't work. 2000 hand and thumb warmers are powered through the key switch where the 2001-2002 they are powered through the CDI.... long and short of it is you can accomplish this by getting a separate controller for your thumb warmer and running power though it enabling you to separately control hand and thumb warmer temps.

I used to run a toggle switch on my 98 so I could shut off the thumb warmer from time to time,I know that's not what your really looking to accomplish but if you don't have another dial to turn the current down to the thumb that may be your best option.
