Do you guys replace the jackshaft bearing when you are replacing the Track in your sleds? What about any other bearing/parts you would replace as preventative maintaince type parts. I have a 2001 Sxr 700 3200 miles.

Yes
Hey man any time me or my buddies have our chaincase out the bearings are closely inspected. Any slight grind or squeek, chuck it! It is a lot of work to pull it out and i'll spend 50 bucks on bearings to ensure longevity.

Inspect
I pulled mine when I replaced the track on my 02 viper. They are "expensive" and my sled had 3000 miles. Seemed to spin, but was real dry. I blew it out, got rid of all grease and re-greased it using syn. grease. Spun real nice after that with no wobble or looseness in cage. Re-installed and I think it will go another 3000. They put "jack" for grease in those bearing from factory.

Bearings
Those bearings are tough. Pry both seals off & spray it down with brake clean and blow it out with air really good. If it feels good and smooth just pack some new grease in there with with your finger, put the seals on and go! That bearing is easy to replace if it fails anyway, just pop off the speedo pick-up, loosten the set screws and pop the new one in.

As long as you already got it apart and your right there, why not just throw in a new bearing in.The bearings in the chaincase side last long as their always in oil,i would replace the speedo side bearing for peace of mind.
