When would you use a hotter or a colder plug over a standard spark plug ?

In the Ngk plugs a br 9 is colder than an 8 and hotter than a 10. Clear as mud right In my old phazer mod I used a 10 to limit detonation since it was a cooler plug than the 9 that was factory. I suppose if you had a fouling issue you could run an 8 but where a 9 was spec'd but might find it too warm for the motor

Over in Europe they rejet by using colder plugs to fatten up the jetting. If having a problem with it fouling plugs, try running the eix series of plugs as they are designed to prevent fouling.

If your fowling, change plug caps.
