does anyone know if there is a sealer used between the crancase halves? im replacing my crankshaft and im not sure if there is a sealant used or if it is just put together dry. thanks

yes, there is a sealer, its called yamabond. Its a gray non hardening sealer that seals up air leaks, dont put it together without using it or it will be short lived. Just apply to 1 half of the case and its very sticky stuff, put a good layer on and smooth out with your finger to form a nice even like 1/16" layer thick on it then place together and then torq down bolts, leave the excess at the seam to avoid airleaks.

if you dont have a yamaha dealer close by same stuff is also called hondabond from a honda dealer....lol

I use the loctite stuff...518 I think? I get a deal at work...I think the yamabond is cheaper
