Hi all, Picked myself up a 1995 Vmax DX 600 this year and i'm going through the rear suspension. After tearing it down, I found that all the bushings on the front arm of the rear skid were shot. Then, I found out that these little bushings are pricey and hard to find. Question is, when I install the new ones, should I grease them first or leave them dry? Being a plastic bushing, i'm not sure if grease would do more harm than good or not matter? Any thoughts?

Since I am finding it hard to find parts for this skid (almost impossible to find a center shock for the rear skid) I think i'm going to look into a rear suspension swap for next year. Anyone have any suggestions for a swap for a 136" machine? I don't care if it's a Ski-Doo, Arctic Cat, Polaris, or Yamaha skid, I just want to put a newer unit in. I know I can handle the swap since I just did a swap on an old 1975 Cat last year (installed a 90's AC skid). Just would like to hear any advice on an easy/good quality swap.

Thanks.

If the bushing is in good shape, it can just be shimmed. Take a pop can and cut it into strip that is as wide as the bushing. Put as many wraps as needed to tighten things up. Drill and insert zerks in any joint that moves. A 96 XT skid is a direct bolt in. You have something like 6 inches of travel with your current skid. An 96 XT skid has @ 11 inches of travel.

The bushings are pretty much destroyed, so I don't think a pop can will help them any, but good idea. I read about the XT skid swap, but my machine is a 2-up, 136" track. I don't think there is any direct bolt in XT for my sled, at least I haven't seen such an animal...
