79 exciter carb question , filter net?

Picked up my first vintage (79 Exciter 440) going through sled and while cleaning carb (keihin ) noticed one of the two little tubes that dead ends and is attached together with a compression spring has a hole in it, the tube is called a filter net on the oem parts fiche and is not available to purchase, what do they do and do I need to replace ?

They are vent tubes for the bowl. You can replace them with new trigon tubing if you want.
