well im screwed now...guess i should have listened to you guys over PSI and MAXX PEFR when i put the pipes on. jetted to there specs and now i have a burnt piston. not exactly sure what is wrong i am going to rip it apart this weekend.....really sucks.

i was riding about 20 miles no problems, got about 2 miles from home opened it up to about 80 everything was good went to slow down and it seemed to be reving high or something so i slowed down and it started to make a loud weird noise almost like there was a hole in the exhaust. got a light checked what i could in the dark looked fine. pulled the plugs and they had a little white on them. towed it home and thats where it sits. when i checked the jetting it seemed fine. i was told by many that were with me that it was fine. it is jetted for -5 it was probably 5 above when i was riding last night and i had the heated carbs on. so who knows.

whats your input?

it is a 98 sx 700. with 2200 miles on it. PSI modblasters, maxx perf clutch kit, studded and a lot of little stuff.

This is just a guess, but I'd bet you where lean on mid range. When you got out of it, it went back to the needles, and screech. I think it is the biggest cause of burn downs. But thats just my opinion. Did you do any plug checks at different rpms. Did you check your needle settings with the ones psi gave you. Post what you have for jetting. Maxdlx

oppss wow. i thought it was a piston. it wasnt thank god. screw from exhaust flange came out. im an idiot i guess. but i did check the jetted looked to go me. but i think that i am going to get some dial jets. jetins is142.5 all cylinders. needles on CENTER AND MAG ARE at setting #4. fuel screw is 2 3/4 turns.
