Are there any 8DN 00-00 belts left out there?

Has the stock of our beloved 00-00 belts finally been depleted and people are just being forced to use the 01-00 belt or are guys managing to find some NOS left around? I see one on eBay ever once in a while, new not used, but they are few and far between.

I guess the only other alternative from the 01-00 belt is to go to one of the aftermarket ones, but my experience with Dayco, before Carlisle took over, was not good.

How about Gates? Are they any good? I've got belts enough to do me this season, provided I don't run into clutch trouble, but it's always nice to have a backup plan.

Are you sure there is even a difference? I know this has been beat to death on here....but like, I bought two and they speced out within tolerance according to the service manual.

I personally have not used or even had one of the 01-00 belts in my hands let alone measure one against one of my new 00-00 belts. All I've read about the 01 belt is that it is slightly wider and some were not sure if the compound was the same, but being an 8DN prefix I would tend to think it is.If it's just a matter of shimming the secondary to compensate for the extra width then when it comes time for a new belt I'll pick one up and give it a shot,I trust the Yamaha belts a lot further than, say,a Dayco/Carlisle.

I broke In my 01 belt, clutches run cool and clean. I did pull a washer out of my secondary so it would ride at the right height and it was fine. But like I said, it was all within the tolerances.

I use the gates carbon fiber belt on my viper.have had no issues with belt and seems to pull a lot better.and gates guarantees the belt won't break as long as everything is okay with clutching. Been on for 2 years with no wear

The 01 is different but dont remember why. You can still find a few 00 new on ebay but even though they are new and not used getting up there in age sitting on shelve. I also had to remove the washers on back of secondary when running the 01 but no other difference that ive found so far. And the clutches run cool as far as ive checked.

it was a design change to eliminate squealing in the primary for the guys that did not adjust their secondary properly. i have an used 8dn-00-00 on my apex atm and did not really notice the difference between it and the 8dn-01-00 it came with.

it was the rounding of the inside drive cogs wasn't it?
