Hi guys, I have a 2002 Yamaha Viper ER 700 Triple, and the other day I bought a new battery and had it installed and works great, electric start works just like it should. My buddies sleds pull cord broke but he had electric start as well, but his battery was dead so I gave him a boost with my sled running, and got his sled started, all was fine until I shut my sled off a little while later, when I went to start my sled again I tried to use electric start, turned the key to the ON position and you can hear the Y.P.V.S. turn on, then go to turn and hold the key to IGNITION to start it, and nothing, not a click, not turning over, nothing. I checked my fuses on top of my battery and the fuse box right next to the battery and all fuses are ok...
so whats next? what the problem? what do i check next? all fuses check out ok and the battery is brand new and has lots of juice, but sled wont even try to start when I go to use the key, using the pull cord the sled has no issues starting and all grip warmers, lights, gauge cluster, etc. work as they should no issues there, only the electric start, someone please help with this, I bought a new battery to use the electric start in the cold mornings, not to pull it over...Thanks for all the help in advance guys and gals.

hook up a digital voltmeter to the starter solenoid, see if it has power when you turn the key.

Another cheat way see if its a bad relay take a screwdriver and lay it across the 2 screws on top of the relay. If it kicks in the starter you might have fried the relay jumping your buddies sled. My buddy had to start his chevete this way all the time, lol!
