Sled is 97 sx700. completely stock. with about 3000 miles. carbs just cleaned. Runs good. Here is a pic of my plugs after about a 1/2 mile ride. Plugs are in cylinder order 1,2,3. I was wondering does your guys plugs look like this for cylinder 1 in a 1/2 mile. See how 1/2 of it is white the other half is black. The other 2 are actually dark brown all the way around pic is not the best.

image.jpgThat's funny because I was just about to post pics of my red heads plugs. My carbs are jetted 142.5 across the board. They were 133.5 from the previous owner,I don't know why it didn't blow up. I noticed the same thing as you with a "half and half" plug mine was most obvious on the mag side.

How many miles on them? Was your sled set up for higher altitude hence the smaller main jet? If so then it probably has a bigger pilot jet to.

I am thinking they do that half color thing do to the orientation of the plug in the cylinder. Which does something with the way the fuel hits it. Look up spark plug indexing that will give you an idea of what I am talking about. Also wondering if it something to do with the reeds?

Was hoping someone could tell me more.

At least I am not the only one. To bad were on different sides. I have 2 of these sleds and both are PTO side/clutch side.

Those plugs only have about 50 miles on them. I think it's eaiser to read older plugs with more miles.i agree with the plug index thing. I'm wondering if they will become more uniform with miles. I'm hoping some others chime in as well.
