Hello my fellow Yamaha riders. Just a quick? I have a 2000 Yamaha vmax 700 triple and the other day I got to really crack it wide open the speedometer told me I was doing 140 just wandering if that's right as far as I know it is all stock minus a aftermarket silencer any feedback would be appreciated thanks
Highly doubt it is accurate

Yeah that's about right, I saw about 155 kph stock on my sxr on really cold days on hard pack.

Yeah I was running down a road with snow on it so there wasn't much to slow me down I would be quite impressed if that is right this is my first Yamaha don't think I'll ever ride another arctic crap after experiencing the redhead

They run nice, do some clutching and it will run even better.

I highly doubt you were going 140mph on a snow covered road with a redhead regardless of how long the road was. So unless you are reading it in kph I would guess that your running 8 tooth drivers with the 9 tooth elbow joint. That or else your gearing is way out of whack but it would feel like you were starting out in about 5th gear and the low end would be terrible. I know I saw some silly speeds on my srx after I did that, but once I got the 8 tooth elbow in there it was back down to the 90/100 that it was geared for.

KPH - yes.
MPH - no.
is your 140 mph or kph?? I would say 110 mph is about top in excellent conditions which would be about 177 kph

Well I figured as much just had to ask didn't feel like that fast my dad had a thunder cat that would do about 160 after all the work he did to it and it didn't feel anything like that so I figured it was way off thought I'd ask though thanks for all the input

Where can you get a 8 tooth elbow joint? It drives me nuts my speedo not being right on my srx.
