Just picked up a 78 enticer and 79 exciter to let the kids romp on, both had oil injection disabled, I will reinstall maybe over summer but for this winter I will premix with yamalube 2R at 40:1, what fuel do ou guys run, I don't have access to anything but the ethanol mix, what experience have you guys had with these old sleds and the new ethanol mixed fuels, I was going to run regular 87 octane, what do he old manuals call for?

I put 87 (E10) in Junior's '79 Enticer with an operational injection system.

Keep in mind that you're leaning it out a bit by using pre-mix but perhaps the previous owner may have installed larger jetting to compensate.

I've been reading a bunch about these old buggys and it seems a lot of guys yanked the Tillson carb and installed Mikunis with float bowls and disabled the oil injection since it's linkage was part of the carb.

Junior's sled still has the Tillson and injection and it works fine.

I plan to run pre-mix through it to store it just before fogging, but I'll be using ATF (type F, just 'cause I've got a bunch).

I ran it through my SRX last spring. Unlike every year before, I did not have to pull my carbs... no plugged pilots.

I'll yank them before heading up north, but I putted around last Saturday for 6 hours pulling a bunch of brats on kiddy sleds and the idle was solid.

I personally find most fuel additives a waste of money but I haven't tested them all. Seafoam and Startron did not prevent waxing.

All fuel in Michigan is at least E10 and has been for many years. Use fresh, in season fuel and you shouldn't have issues.

I see lots of problems and damage to lawn and garden equip from ethanol... I would suggest using Deere gas stabilizer , seafoam or stabil products mixed in the moment you get
the fuel home .. or when adding your oil .... just takes a small amount and could save you some problems ... 6 weeks seem to be shelf life of regular these days before separating
into water and lowering the octane ... I think regular gas was 89 octane when I was younger .. consider using mid grade or super ...
What ever gas mix is left around (treated) after a couple months , pour in with a larger amount of fresh gas and burn with lawn tractor or older vehicle to use it up... Same for trimmer fuel...
We can still get super shell in Ontario for now that is ethanol free and I still treat it.
Have fun
Ron

like ron said, it is the shelf life of the new gas that is the problem. if the kids are like we where, 87 will be fine as it will need a tank of gas every weekend. just make shure you run 91 or well stabilized gas at last fill up unless fogging the sleds and draining the carbs.
