Broken slide rail

During my preseason maintenance, I loosened the limiter straps for the first time on my 98 SX. Afterwards I went for a couple laps in the field behind my house, and came back to find my right slide rail broken about 4in from the tip and the hyfax was gone. There is a small jump in the field. If a replace the rail, will it snap again without making any other adjustments?

I'll have to replace it because there is no where to screw the hyfax to. Will I have to pull the whole skid just to replace the one rail?

Yes, you'll have to remove the skid.

You'll find more than just a broken rail once you get it out.

Search BTV - "tighten yours" and other proaction threads for broken cross brace/w-arm issues.

I pulled the skid and the W arm was snapped like a pretzel. Thanks for the advice.

Better check your other rail too. I rebuilt my skid last year and had found a crack in my right rail.IMG_4942.jpg

I ended up buying a complete skid off craigslist for $100. It was in great shape, although it didn't have the rebuildable shocks. I swapped it in and she rides like a dream now. I put 309 miles on her over the weekend on some whooped out trails. It was at least bearable.
