Hey guys,
Just picked up my dream trail sled, a 2002 Srx all stock with 2400 miles
I want to make sure Everthing is okay before I go for my first ride...what should be done to a sled this old that's been laying up so long?
I've cleaned the carbs, cleaned and adjusted the powervalves, new belt and set the belt deflection, new fuel filter and plugs, chaincase oil and chain adjust, and grease
Am planning on mixing the first tank of fuel with a little oil and seafoam
Is there anything else I should do?
Also it seems like the clutch is rattling at idle...is this common? I don't think my other yamaha triples done it...is there parts that usually wear out at this Milage?
Just plan on clutching, 01
Main jets, 00 pilot Jets, transfer rods and maybe a silencer
Any help would be great thanks!

Check the weights and rollers tot slop, they should be tight. Check the W arm for cracks as well. Stock silencer makes the most power.

Check lower jack shaft bearings and just give the track a once over looking for tear outs or track de-lamination.

also check the Power valves, clean and adjust.Check the TPS also as there is an update for them..test yours first. Also check clutch alignment( center to center and offset)Let us know what you now have for clutching in primary and secondary. Also check buttons on the secondary for flat spots.

X2 - or as most would refer to as the drive shaft.
Both sides have been sitting in the bottom of the sled for some 12 years now and the left side does not see fresh lube, just abuse.
Thanks guys...what is the tps update?

What was the sled running like with a bad tps?
Where did you find the new tps info and updated settings?

Sounds good, it kind of has a rattle sound at 6000 rpm only if you hold the throttle steady....if you hit the gas hard it revs fast and no rattle sound
It may have too much timing in the midrange from a bad tps
Also it's revving to 9000 wide open, I hold it 3/4 and it goes to 8500
I guess the stock clutching is bad lol

Ive had a rattle coming from the front heat exchanger protectors before. Some times the rivets loosen up, especially if the track was upgraded to a larger lug. 9k is high, im sure you will get some better feedback on here than i can give...congrats on the sled.

use the the best prem fuel you can find or you will be back here asking about the dcs. 3:16 (yammie tony)
For sure yammiegod! This is why I want to go with the richer jetting...and I'll use some Lucas octane boost to get the 91 octane here to 93!
Am going to try a WWW primary spring, 4.5 grams
In both holes on weights.
Bender 51/45 helix and a green secondary spring @ 70 wrap
Going to test the tps as well
Did anyone ever try the br9ecs 5 plugs that are gapped at .18?
This is what's in the sled

I have a like new WWW spring. I found the YWY to be much better. Gained 8 mph. Same engagement, just a little higher shifting
