Hello all, I have a few questions for my 83 SS440 that I'm rebuilding. I do have a manual, but it's not clear on these items:
- What is the diameter of the oil pump outlet hoses to the engine intake? They appear smaller than the oil pump inlet hoses. I fully disassembled my oil pump and verified that it meet the factory specifications on MIN pump stroke and
- What is the proper way to bleed the oil system. The bleed screw is such a pain to get to.
- I rebuilt my front ski's and was shopping for carbides. I found a company called Bergstroms that appears to have high quality ones. Does anyone have any experience with them? They recommended 8" carbides for safe turning.
- When I install the engine, what is the best method to torque the clutch on? I don't have the clutch holding tool, but was wondering if there is something else out there I could use?
We have 85 SS manual if you are a VIP... just an FYI

Hi Thanks, I do have the manual for SS440 from Midwest Manuals, it's OK, but pictures are poor and some of the items are not described well. I was hoping for what people typically do on these. I can barely reach the bleed screw with motor installed.

I usually just run premix in the 1st tank and make shure that the pump is pumping oil when I pull a motor.
