I definitely think I am over my head here. I have a 1990 exciter that I am trying to put a vmax engine into. I picked up an exciter sx harness and a 1994 vmax 600 engine. I am completely boggled at what to do with the wiring. Can the vmax engine use the exciter SX CDI? The vmax CDI has completely different connections. It only uses 1 8pin plug and the exciter uses 2, a 6 pin and a 3 pin. The stator connections are fine. Do I need to splice? I was told to use the VMAX engine with the vmax OR Exctier SX stator but the CDI had to be VMAX due to the different port timing. I also have a vmax 600 harness. Any help getting this thing to work would be greatly appreciated. I have searched past forums but it isn't cut and dry. I have all these parts and don't know what has to be done. Thanks in advance,

I have a vmax 600 stator, cdi AND a converted first gen exciter 570 wiring harness that would be a plug and play, click and connect for what you are doing. Pm me if interested. Im not sure If the vmax and sx ignition parts will play well with each other
Its not worth the risk to use 2 different models and ignitions systems...you would be off getting the complete harness from a Vmax and install that with the motor.
