Hi guys, I have an 86 Phazer. I need to clean the carbs and know how to pretty well. I just can't figure how to get the carbs out. I need the air box out first. Do I have to start from the rear and actually remove the seat and work forward?

Anyone have step by step th get the air box out? This doesn't look easy....

Thanks!

I have found if you just loosen the clamps on the carbs (and remove them) then with the fuel lines removed just push the carbs towards the air box then they will come out easily. They air box stays in place.

You can do it without removing the air box as said above, but it can be easier if you have not done it before to remove the airbox. It may or may not take more time and could save some skinned knuckles and swearing. To do that, remove the secondary pulley and then the air box. The air box is secured with two screws that are located under a small cover in the fuel tank cover. The secondary needs to be removed periodically anyway to grease the splines.

Hey guys, Thanks a ton, I didn't realize that the boots attached to the air box pushed in. I think I may try this tomorrow!
