Just looking for some advice here as to what options I have to replace the lousy shocks on stock SRX skids?

I have switched to a 2001 SRX this year (from my 99) and I find the shocks are even worse on this one, seems to bottom out way too easily on bad trails.... have adjustable transfer rods on both.

I know the proaction isn't great and is what it is, but looking for advice as to what options I have for upgrading shocks.

Looking for real world examples from people that have done it, and what they results were.

When was the last time these shocks were serviced. I find that fresh shocks make the ride ........ acceptable. Knowing what these sled were designed for.

Also, make sure your transfer rods are set to min. gap. Meaning less weight transfer but better ride in the rough stuff.

I had the same problem last year. I couldn't justify spending good money on the pro action skid. Found a SC5 skid on Kijiji for $300. It was allot of measuring but not that difficult to install. The difference is night and day more usable travel and the transfer much better.

Rebuild or get yourself some sxr or viper shocks with longer limiter straps. You can make it ride decent just need to set it up. It won't ride like a new doo but it will ride pretty good for what it is. Remember these are over 12 years old, been a lot of changes in those years

Is the srx skid the same as the sxr skid just with different shocks? I know the srx is 8 in travel and the sx is 11.5. Would a sx bolt right into a srx?

Yes. Just need to change both shocks and switch to the sxr limiter straps because the are longer. You will also need to thin the thicker spacer to 10mm so that the are the same top and bottom on the transfer rods. The spacers when sitting on the sled should have approx the same gab top and bottom. I ve got the viper shocks/ springs on my 2001. I had that same setup on my 98 srx as well. Works good

My advice. Dont put another nickle into that no action pro action skid. Get through the season with what you have. Then on the off season source something else and move on. If you have even just a little mechanical ability a skid swap is quite simple.

X2 kinda have to agree with Mac. By the time you're done playing with your, new to you, SRX skid you'd be better of starting with something else.

Unless you know what to expect from it and send the kybs to Pioneer and tighten it up - any other is the way to go for "bottoming out".

Having said that - I'm still satisfied with going wide/Viper shocks front, center, rear.

Just picked up a 00 srx. With the viper shocks up front what did you have to widen to fit those?

I used Venture radius/tie rods to widen the ski stance and BeTheViper upper shock brackets to accomodate the Viper shocks.

Also re-spaced the sway bar to trailing arm links.
