I have a 2000 srx700 stock ski's,will 98-99's fit or are the studs located different?i just bought brand new skis and need to put carbides on them(here is part# for skis "GYT-8CR91-31-BK"...

Good question as I've wondered the same thing. The makers label them as different, but the only difference I can remember is that in 00 the came with a bowed ski saddle that bowed the ski slightly. Maybe the manufacters bowed the runners slightly and gave them new part #'s.

Someone will chime in here shortly who knows for sure.

98-99 SRX wearbars are different than 00-02 SRX. 3 studs are the same, 1 is moved.

Your new "GYT..." ski is not the original part number for the 98/99, so it is possible that it is updated to the 00-02 carbides but I'd give it no more than a 50/50 shot so I'd verify with parts side by side or with dimensions from the replacement wearbar manufacturer. I'd pull a wearbar off the 2000 and compare its' stud locations to the holes in the GYT ski. If the wearbars are worn away on the 2000 I'd remove any studs remaining in the original ski and place the GYT ski next to it, comparing hole locations, either way it'll be easy to see if they are the same or different.

Back long ago I had USI SS Railers on my 97SX7. I also had a new package of wear bars for the old steel skis. Same length just different stud pattern. All but one stud lined up on the SS Railers. Drilled one hole and I was back in business.

I remember hearing about this as well back in the new model intro's for 2000, but now I'm not so sure it applies to the SRX's. Last fall I removed a saddle from a 2001 SRX (2000-2002 SRX all have the same saddle part number), and placed a straightedge across the bottom. It was flat, absolutely no curve/bow detected at all. Of course, it could have been changed at some point in the decade before I owned it, but it got me to check the 2000 Tech Update manual. Model Improvements for 2000 list a new rocker shape plastic ski for the SXR 500-600-700 and MM 600-700, the SRX wasn't listed. I'm kinda bummed, all along I though the newer SRX's had rocker skis...

looks like the new ones have the same bolt location,i looked up and down for these original skis and I think I got the last 2 out there in the world,if anyone does the search you will see the part number was changed but the 2000-2002 skis are $200 each WTF,how can it cost twice as much? When I investigated this last fall I called Yamaha to make sure the skis were the same from 99-00 and pointed out the part numbers were different but the same skis..GUESS WHAT HAPPENED A WEEK LATER????THE PART# WAS DISCONTINUED AND YOU COULD NOT GET THE $100 SKIS ANYMORE!!!!!!!I MUST OF CAUGHT A MESS UP ON THERE BEHALF!!!!!!!!!!DAAAAMMMIIIIT I SHOULD NEVER OF CALLED
