Hey there. Just this past weekend I was on a 3 day trail riding trip and my 2000 SXR 700 was running great ,but sometimes especially when coming down hills ,I would let off the throttle and lose power until the RPM dropped down to idle speed and then I would get full power and off I would go. The sled would not stall ,I just couldn't go anywhere until the RPM dropped. I could ride for a couple hours before it would do it again. It had new plugs before the trip and they are all a nice brown color when checked. No problems starting and plenty of power. She idled good.
I just removed the carbs and cleaned them today for starters. Anyone ever have this happen or have any suggestions?
Thanks

Sounds like your throttle cable is too tight. That's where I'd start anyway

Throttle Cable? I can't see that bogging out the motor.

Lose power how? Like would the motor have almost like a Rev limiter until it idled back down or just straight bogged tight down like you were on the kill switch and full throttle at the same time

A throttle cable that is too tight will activate the TORS switch. TORS is what causes the motor to "bog", it's a safety feature that prevents the sled from moving in case the carbs stick open, or an accident that bends the handlebars and yanks the throttle open, etc. Your description in your first post sounds a lot like TORS activating, and a too tight throttle cable is the most common cause. Since the carbs were off, it is very easy to change the throttle cable adjustment and not even know it. Loosen that bad boy up so there is plenty of slack in the cable at the carbs (at rest/idle), and your problems may just go away. It's also a good idea to check the oil cable adjustment after messing with the throttle cable.

OK ,I'll check those adjustments. I've had TORS issues before on other sleds ,just different symptoms. Strange that it could go for so long before it would bog.
