Hi all. New to Yamaha and this forum. I have a brand new 2015 Venture GT. I have sledded for 30 plus years, but I have been riding older 2 stroke sleds all my life. I am wondering if the way my new sled clutch engages is normal. It seems to engage "hard" from a complete stop. It doesn't do this when still coasting, just once it has come to a complete stop and I go to accelerate again. I would even describe the engagement as a "clunk". I have read a lot about the problems with this model and brand, but I have not really come across anything about the clutch engagement. It might just be the way this sled is set-up, as I came off of a 1992 Arctic Cat Prowler 440. Also I will add, that in 2015 Yamaha has not fixed the howling from the track when doing 50 kms. I didn't even know that it was a problem for so many years until after my first ride. It is there for sure and I have never had any sled do anything like this before. I guess we live with this problem. Not the end of the world, but it is there. I love this sled already, and I plan on it being my last sled. I think I can make it last 20 plus years no problem. Thanks in advance for any insight into the "hard" or "clunk" at acceleration.

First thing that came to my mind was a loose track.

it is how the reverse is set up in the chain case. they all do it. I usually burp the throttle before I take off to get it tensioned the correct way.
I'm guessing this is the same reason why when i spike my brake on my srx with reverse I get a clunk? Seems there is a good 20 to 30 degrees of free play in the drive.

yes that is why. the proaction chassis chaincase is set up very similar to the 4 stroke ones in the delta box chassis if my memory serves. gotta tear a sx venture apart to change the track.
