Mesh hood install and tach no go

I made a mesh hood for my wifes SRX that has a bracket to hold the stock tach, an aftermarket headlight, the temp light and the oil level idiot light. As it is now the tach doesn't work. I thought ok it's the wiring harness shorted out under the motor like happens all the time. Pulled the harness out and inspected,cleaned and retaped it. There were no scraped wires on it at all. My question is does the tach ground through one of the connectors other than the one that goes to the tach itself. I have no speedo or stock headlight and that capacitor thing is gone too. If I can't get an answer I guess I will put everything back to stock and start removing things one by one.Could this be something unrelated to the hood swap.

i would try hooking up the capacitor thing, when i installed the large gauges in my 97 700sx they would not work (tach) untill i hooked up that thing!
