Hey all. I have a 1997 Vmax 700 triple. I just bought it beginning of this season and it wasn't ran since 06. Well I cleaned the carbs and got it running. I adjusted the fuel screw to 1.5 when I put them back in.
The only problem I have right now, is sitting at a dead stop with the sled at idle. If I smash it it sounds like it screaming and kinda sounds like it has a miss. But if I take off slow and about 20-30 mph then it's like a power band kicks in and it takes off. Also, if I'm steady cruising at any mph, If I just hold the throttle at one steady position, it sounds like it has a miss kinda. Like it's popping and sounds like it's loading up. But if I smash it, it opens up and sounds like it's running smooth. What's going on?

I wouldn't find it odd if you had to clean the carbs more than once. Also, that pop/stumble you are talking about when holding the throttle steady . I have that same issue with my sled and I have seen it on at least two other Vmax 700s. If I hold my throttle even for too long it will start to pop or back fire. Seems to only happen at much lower RPMs though.
