I want to do an upgrade to my 02 viper. I was thinking either a mono skid or an aftermarket exhaust. What should I do first and why?

Rear suspension. Proaction Is a boat anchor. You'll find a good skid for under 400$ and there's lots of write ups...lots of options. Id go with a skidoo skid but that's just me. Pipes are great but they are expensive and require clutching, jetting/carb tuning and sometimes gearing...other things are necessary too like protecting other parts like belly pan and powervalve cables from heat. Getting bugged by the trail cops sucks too.

are your looking for suspension /'better ride" or looking for more power??
better ride= swap in a mono rear skid, or another brand skidframe
more power=clutch kit
The stock exhaust is good and the sled makes decent power, the clutching is the biggest bang for the buck if its power you seek and it doesnt kill the gas mpg, aftermarket pipes eat gas like crazy.
rear suspension is lacking as the pro action is pretty outdated today, but the front suspension still works decent and the slot car type handling of the trailing arm is still a desire, so you need to go with a differnt rear skid if you ride in the bumps alot.

If suspension was the upgrade then the next question is sc5 or mono skid?
Keep the items coming I really like the feedback.

Mono skid or even a newer nitro skid, 144 the sled, you will have much fun out on the trail. Boss style seat first if your on a budget. I would try for an older version as the newest one is stiff.
torque arm and clutch kit
tuner or arrow skis
Seat and bars
then skid and longer track
Srx pipes and cdi

I loved how my viper was set up. simmons flex skis, the simple green spring and dual angle helix, and mono skid. good and snappy, rode fantastic and handled great. and I was getting pretty good gas mileage!

oh, and the small riser. if I had to start from scratch again, mono all day long
Boss then mono. Boss allows you to ride with your feet under you, when you hit a rough section your knees soak up all the bumps.
If you area fabricator you could do the mono first and fabricate a seat riser that raisers the oem seat.
