Ok so in my garage at this exact moment is a 98 Vmax and a 97 mountain max. The mountain max shocks have the adjusters on the bottom to tighten up and the Vmax has Ohlins and the shocks are mounted to where you tighten down like I'm used to.
Was this normal or did someone install these upside down at one point?
I've owned about a dozen Yamaha's can't recall seeing another one that tightened upwards. Then again I don't usually have two in the shop at same time.

The shock works the same either way. But it sounds like they are backwards.

If the shocks have the yoke mount on the top they will only mount with the adjuster collar on the bottom.
